Leidos is seeking a talented and experienced Information Technology Technical Writer to join our team. As an IT Technical Writer, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining high-quality technical documentation for our software products, IT systems, and processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in information technology, excellent writing skills, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and concise documentation.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Documenting Software and Systems: Produce clear, concise, and comprehensive technical documentation for software applications, IT systems, and processes, ensuring accessibility and ease of understanding for users and stakeholders alike.
- User Guides and Manuals: Craft user-friendly guides, manuals, and tutorials to empower users in efficiently navigating and leveraging our products and services to their fullest potential.
- API Documentation: Develop and maintain thorough documentation for application programming interfaces (APIs), aiding developers in seamless integration of our software with diverse systems, fostering interoperability and efficiency.
- Release Notes: Articulate detailed release notes and update documentation for new software releases, elucidating changes, enhancements, and bug fixes for stakeholders' clarity and informed decision-making.
- Technical Specifications: Collaborate closely with software developers, engineers, and stakeholders to gather precise technical specifications and requirements, ensuring accuracy and relevance in documentation projects.
- Quality Assurance: Uphold the integrity, coherence, and thoroughness of technical documentation through meticulous reviews, edits, and revisions, fostering trust and reliability among users and stakeholders.
- Knowledge Management: Establish and maintain a centralized repository of technical documentation, streamlining access and retrieval of critical information to facilitate informed decision-making and operational efficiency.
- Collaboration: Foster seamless collaboration across cross-functional teams, including software development, quality assurance, product management, and customer support, to ensure alignment and synergy in documentation projects, optimizing outcomes and user experience.
- Continuous Improvement: Remain abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in information technology and technical writing, driving continuous enhancement of documentation processes and standards to uphold excellence and relevance.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Computer Science, Information Technology, Technical Writing, or a related field with 4+ years of prior relevant experience or Master’s with 2+ years of prior relevant experience, additional years of experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.
- 3+ years of experience as a technical writer in the information technology industry.
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies, IT infrastructure, and systems architecture.
- Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
- Proficiency in documentation tools such as Microsoft Word, Adobe FrameMaker, MadCap Flare, or similar software.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and documentation platforms (e.g., Confluence) is a plus.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously.
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Must possess an active Secret clearance and ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance is required to be considered.
- Must be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance within 90 days.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $61,750.00 - $111,625.00
The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
