Role Summary:
As a Senior Process Automation Engineer, you will build the process automation architecture and related controls for a wide variety of material handling and process technology systems within the life sciences and chemical industries.
Everyday, you will develop automated process technology working with key stakeholders, both internal and external, on design requirements and solutions. This will involve writing PLC code, testing/debugging control systems, designing electrical/pneumatic/hydraulic circuits, and more.
To thrive in this role, you will need to enjoy tackling complicated problems, think through process problems critically and creatively, be able to quickly learn and utilize various software, and have a sophisticated understanding of process automation and controls (see qualifications below).
Objectives:
- Design controls system for equipment and process solutions for a wide variety of powder handling projects
- Complete Functional Design Specifications and supporting documents
- Ensure user requirements for designed processes and controls are met
- Develop P&IDs, Electrical, Pneumatic and Hydraulic Schematics
- Source controls system components for a given machine in order to create a
complete Bill of Materials
- Develop PLC and HMI Code
- Test/Debug control systems on equipment
- Integrate equipment with third party control systems and networks
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in technical or engineering field
Experience:
- 5+ years of relevant work experience with PLC programming, debugging, and testing
- Familiarity with Allen Bradley PLCs or similar
- Direct and proven experience in designing electrical circuits for controls applications
- Direct and proven experience with pneumatic systems
- Direct and proven experience creating P&ID drawings
Software:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Proficient with AutoCAD Electrical
- Proficient with FactoryTalk View Studio ME and SE
- Proficient with Studio 5000 Logix Designer

- Experience with programming systems from the ground up
- Experience with PlantPAx Process Library v4.10 and newer
- Experience setting up/configuring HMIs, VFDs, PLCs and I/O modules
- Experience with debugging programing, ethernet networks and electrical circuits
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical
- Willingness to travel (5%-10%)
