Senior IT Application Development Director
Missouri Valley College seeks a Senior IT Application Development Director to play a pivotal role in shaping our technological landscape, ensuring the seamless integration and optimization of Colleague and other key systems. You will lead a talented team of IT professionals, setting the strategic direction for IT initiatives, and ensuring that our technology and Student Information System (SIS) infrastructure aligns with our strategic objectives and growth plans, and other duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
1. IT strategic planning focused on the SIS and associated 3 rd party systems.
2. Managing the day-to-day administration and configuration of Colleague and associated
3rd party systems.
3. Assisting in the day-to-day administration and configuration of Colleague and associated 3rd party systems.
4. Managing IT development resources for 3rd party systems, interfaces/integrations and reports.
5. Assisting in the development of 3rd party systems, interfaces/integrations and reports.
6. Managing and assisting in the testing of Colleague, custom developed, and 3rd party package systems.
7. Managing and providing SIS user support and training across the campus.
8. Managing SIS and other campus IT projects, including project prioritization, work plan
development/management and risk/issues management, including associated action plans.
9. Performing business analysis, defining requirements and designing or procuring relevant SIS-related solutions.
10. Managing the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the SIS and 3rd party systems
11. Managing the SIS and 3rd party vendors.
12. IT resource hiring and development.
Colleague (and Other Related Systems) Expertise:
1. Serve as the primary Colleague + ORS expert, overseeing the customization, integration, and
optimization of the Colleague platform.
2. Collaborate with Colleague + ORS administrators and developers to ensure the platform
meets the needs of the education agency.
3. Implement best practices for Colleague + ORS data management and security.
Team Leadership
1. Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing IT team, fostering a culture of excellence,
collaboration, and continuous improvement.
2. Set clear objectives, provide regular feedback, and promote professional development for team members.
3. Report to the Senior VP and actively engaged as a member of the Executive Team.
4. Oversee the Technology Team (i.e., IT and Colleague + ORS developer personnel).
Technology Infrastructure Management:
1. Manage the overall technology infrastructure, including hardware, software, networks, and cloud services.
2. Ensure the availability, reliability, and scalability of IT systems to support business operations.
3. Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
4. Work Hand in Hand with CISO for Data Security and Compliance:
5. Implement and enforce data security measures to protect sensitive customer information.
6. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards relevant to the education sector.
Vendor and Budget Management:
1. Evaluate and select technology vendors and partners, negotiating contracts and managing vendor relationships.
2. Develop and manage the IT budget, optimizing resource allocation and cost-effectiveness.
Project Management:
1. Lead and oversee Colleague and IT projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
2. Maintain project documentation and communicate progress to stakeholders.
3. Development and management of key automated reporting systems:
a. New student funnel.
b. Student retention data.
c. Student housing.
Supervision Exercised:
Supervision is exercised over assigned staff and areas of responsibility.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree preferably in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Master's preferred).
2. Proven experience as an IT leader or a similar executive leadership role within higher education
3. Colleague + ORS expertise and relevant certifications (e.g., Colleague Certified Administrator, Colleague Certified Developer).
4. Strong understanding of education operations and technology requirements.
5. Excellent leadership and people management skills.
6. Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business needs into technology solutions.
7. Strong project management skills and experience leading complex IT projects.
8. Knowledge of data security and compliance regulations in the education sector.
9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
10. Able to work onsite a minimum of four (4) days per week at the Marshall Campus.
