Position Overview
The Software QA Engineer position will play a key role in the testing and quality assurance process for our software products. Reporting to the Software QA Lead, the Software QA Engineer will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive test plans and test cases to ensure the quality and performance of our products. This position will help us build out the QA domain and ensure our products meet high-quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Software QA Lead to understand project requirements and objectives
- Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases for software applications, including manual and automated testing
- Perform testing in a Microsoft-centric environment, including testing applications that use Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, Power BI, and ASP.NET Core
- Participate in supporting ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) environments and testing data integrations and data transformations
- Manage SQL statements to query databases for testing and data validation purposes
- Design and implement both manual and automated test cases based on project requirements and industry best practices
- Identify, document, and track defects in a clear and concise manner, and collaborate with development teams to resolve them.
- Participate in the design and implementation of test automation frameworks and scripts
- Analyze test results and provide feedback to development teams to improve product quality
- Monitor and report on test progress and results to the Software QA Lead and other stakeholders
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting enhancements to testing processes and methodologies
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as developers, product managers, and other QA engineers
- Monitor industry trends and best practices in software quality assurance
Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of experience in software quality assurance, with a focus on manual and automated testing
- At least 5 years of relevant, professional level work experience
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft technologies including Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, Power BI, and ASP.NET Core.
- Familiarity with supporting ETL environments and testing data integrations and data transformations
- Proficiency with test automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, JUnit, NUnit, or similar
- Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, tools, and processes
- Experience with advanced SQL concepts and writing SQL statements
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality products
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Create and maintain test documentation
- Ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels within the organization
- Ability to work independently, detail-oriented, and execution focused.
