Who You Are:
You are an email wizard. You fundamentally understand and can manage all aspects of maintenance and growth of a cold email program, especially a high volume one. You know that a strong email program can lead to strong sales and you’re motivated to see the funnel grow. Collaborating with team members across the Sales, Marketing, and IT realms to drive all developments and deployments is one of the most effective tools in your kit.
You are the key, setting up the funnel - and everyone else - for success.
This position reports to the Director of Sales and Marketing.
Day-to-Day
- Create and coordinate email campaigns.
- Enact best practices in email copy and design, and understand how they impact deliverability and user engagement
- Use technical and non-technical email platforms, automation tools, and custom-built internal systems to set up campaigns, manage workflows, and integrate campaigns with CRMs and other software.
- Monitor system performance and quickly remedy any issues, directing cross-departmental team members.
- Enrich, manipulate, and analyze data sets exceeding 1 million rows in size.
- Identify and resolve issues that affect email deliverability, such as blacklisting, spam complaints, and high bounce rates.
- Work with internet service providers (ISPs) and use tools, such as Return Path or Sender Score, for deliverability insights.
- Provide guidance, systems, and tools to the Lead Generation team that align with the inputs and outputs of the program.
- Create and maintain SOPs, guidance and technical support for lead gen activities.
- Convey the significance of all components involved in sending cold emails at scale, including sending via API, SMTP servers, dedicated IP addresses versus shared IP pools, and the setup of email sending servers and domains.
- Manage team initiatives to regularly segment leads, cleanse out poor leads, and ensure a pipeline of new leads are being added consistently to maintain overall performance.
- In alignment with department and company goals, coordinate testing and develop success metrics.
- Conduct A/B or multivariate tests on different aspects of email campaigns, such as subject lines, email content, and send times to optimize performance.
- Enact strategies to gradually increase the volume of emails sent from new IP addresses or senders to build positive sender reputations.
- Maintain records of all testing.
- Research industry trends, external service provider (ESP) updates, and new tactics in order to increase and maintain system performance long-term.
- Remain up-to-date on the legal and regulatory environment and maintain compliance with:
- CAN-SPAM Act (US), GDPR (Europe), and CASL (Canada), and any other applicable laws.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to ensure proper lead targeting, messaging alignment, and consistent template testing and iteration.
- Establish and collaborate with the Sales team on measuring output quality.
- Always practice excellent internal and external customer service.
Management
- Manage all members of the Lead Generation team and certain members of the IT team.
- Establish expectations and set goals for employees based on all project benchmarks.
- Evaluate performance based on job descriptions.
- Complete one-on-ones with employees and monitor autonomy, competency, relatedness, and hygiene factors.
- In collaboration with Human Resources, support team member development, facilitate conflict resolution, and minimize inventory of one risk.
- Effectively report on the email program vision, strategy updates, and forecasts to the Director of Sales & Marketing and other executives.
- Monitor department-level KPIs, including managing budgets, to meet company goals and ensure program output remains at a net positive.
- Additional KPIs include and are not limited to System Deliverability, Overall Response Rate, Positive Response Rate, RFQs Generated and Leads Added
- Determine hiring needs, coordinate onboarding, and rollout training programs for new employees.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience with Python and SQL
- Advanced Technical Ability, including Code-Writing Proficiency
- Familiarity with SPF, DKIM, DMARC and Other Related DNS Records
- Experience with API Integrations
- Experience with A/B or Multivariate Tests
- Proficiency in Mailchimp, SendGrid, Instantly, Gmail API, or Other Marketing Platforms and Automation Tools.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
