Snap Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization based in the Greater Los Angeles
area. Created in 2017, the Snap Foundation’s mission is to develop pathways to the
creative economy for underrepresented youth in Los Angeles. Snap Inc. and its two
founders, Evan Spiegel and Bobby Murphy, have generously pledged lasting financial
support to the Snap Foundation. While our work is only possible because of their
generosity, the Snap Foundation is a separate legal entity that operates outside of Snap
Inc. To date, the Snap Foundation's primary focus has been researching and funding
strategic projects and initiatives related to its mission.
Job Description:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the OM will develop and execute the internal
operational strategies necessary to achieve the goals and objectives of Snap
Foundation, setting policy and direction while also being an active participant in, and
driver of, the Foundation’s overall strategy. The organization is seeking a skilled finance
professional with exceptional communication skills who is inspired by the possibility of
making an impact on Los Angeles for generations to come.
Responsibilities:
The OM will be responsible for oversight and management of all operational and
administrative functions of the Snap Foundation including accounting, financial reporting,
budgeting, grantmaking operations, human resources, IT, and vendor management. OM
will play a key role in the development and implementation of the Foundation’s
operations.
- Leads in the research, planning, and development of the overall strategy and long-term operational plans of Snap Foundation.
- Provide financial input and support to Board Finance and Audit Committees by developing the financial budgets, prepare periodic budget-to-actual reconciliations, and compile quarterly summaries of investment performances.
- Manage banking and treasury operations to ensure sufficient funding for operations and grantmaking are available.
- Manage all operational expenses and documentation.
- Develop and oversee the human resources function, including the recruiting, hiring, and onboarding process, payroll operations, and benefits.
- Develop processes and policies to support the future growth of the Snap Foundation.
- Build and maintain relationships with all Snap Inc. volunteers, external financial and legal partners, and vendors to execute on the Snap Foundation’s operational activity and strategic goals.
- Research and design system solutions that support efficient operations.
- Manage the physical office environment, including the maintenance of space, equipment, technology infrastructure, and inventory, to create a productive and efficient workspace.
- Implement and oversee Snap Foundation’s grant making and reporting operations, including developing key performance metrics, creating systems and processes, and managing day-to-day operations.
- Support the Executive Director on other tasks as needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Must be passionate about the mission of the Snap Foundation and embody its primary values of transformation, innovation, collaboration, and creativity.
- Proven ability to plan, create, and manage operational processes for maximum efficiency and productivity.
- Working knowledge of multiple operational functions and principles, including finance, accounting, investing, legal, and grantmaking.
- Ability to simultaneously manage a number of projects, and streamline and implement processes that create speed, efficiency, and support rapidly shifting business demands.
- Masterful organizational, verbal and written communication, and leadership skills, demonstrated by previous professional success.
- Results oriented with a “can do” attitude and willingness to drive projects forward, taking on additional responsibilities as needed.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills, and superior attention to detail.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field.
- 5+ years work experience in foundations, nonprofits, consulting, finance, legal, or human resources.
- Ample experience with office management technology and database systems.
- A CPA and/or MBA is a plus.
Salary: $130,000 - $165,000 annually
Benefits: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage at no cost for full-time
staff, 12% 401k salary contribution, unlimited PTO (manager approval required), 12 annual
holidays, and a winter break.
