Our team is led by seasoned technology founders and renowned doctor Mark Hyman MD (Cleveland Clinic, 15x NYT Best Selling author). As a pragmatic Technical Product Manager, you're probably interested in knowing about our tech team.
The product team is lead by engineers behind machine learning systems built and deployed at scale, including a former tech lead from Google Research. We're a scrappy team of about 45 full-time engineers/designers/PMs and we're looking to add a few more exceptional people to our team to help us scale our systems and impact.
The role
We are seeking confident, competent, and gritty Technical Product Manager to join our dynamic team. As a TPM at Function, you'll be part of a team that's dedicated to using technology to improve healthcare. You'll work on a cutting-edge platform that enables our members to access their health data in real-time, and you'll be challenged to make a difference in people's lives. You will work with our product and engineering teams to create scalable and robust solutions that are user-friendly and highly secure
The ideal candidate will be meticulous in their attention to detail, self-motivated, resourceful, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment. As an early member of our tech team, your contributions will play a critical role in shaping the future of our systems as we scale from tens of thousands of members to millions. There is no ceiling for growth or impact in this role.

Responsibilities
- You must provide clarity across engineering, design, marketing, and operations when no one else can.
- You'll be working directly with engineering leadership as well as engineers to deliver high impact projects. Every project you're involved in will move the needle.
- Identify and resolve technical issues, sometimes you'll be the only person with context to solve project-specific issues, so you'll be expected to own those or provide engineers with the necessary context to fix them.
- You will act as the owner of delivery on key projects that will include data engineering, 3rd party API integrations, UI/UX, and mobile apps.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, tools and trends, and apply them to solve business problems.
Requirements
- Bias toward action. Every call should end with next steps of action.
- Understand leverage points of our business and how to the highest impact outcomes there.
- Clear and direct communication. It's your responsibility to ensure there is no ambiguity about the desired outcomes.
- A passion for improving people's lives and desire to empower them to own their health.
- Strong background in software engineering, preferably with experience as a lead where you had to communicate up, down, and across the organization.
- Strong knowledge of at least one programming language like Python, GO, Rust, or Java.
- Experience with cloud-based platforms, such as AWS or Google Cloud, and containerization technologies, such as Docker.
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles and best practices, including Agile methodologies, test-driven development, and continuous integration and deployment.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to understand complex systems and break them down into manageable components.
- Comfortable with remote work.
- Willing to question assumptions and committed to continuous improvement.

- Experience designing & building systems at-scale.
- Data Engineering experience
- Start-up experience. We especially love former founders or early Eng hires.
- Knowledgeable about popular health technologies (e.g., Oura, Whoop, Apple Watch, CGMs).
- A background with some of the following technologies - Python, React, React Native, GCP, and Postgres.
Location - Anyone is welcome to apply regardless of location as this is a remote position. However Fluent English is a requirement in order to be considered.
Your first 3 months
- Month 1
- Rapid onboarding and ramp up. You'll work directly with our lead TPM to absorb all existing business and system context.
- You'll tag-team PRDs for key projects.
- Be introduced to other key team members in engineering and operations.
- Shadow most cross-function meetings that involve current or future projects you'll be involved with.
- Month 2
- At this point, you will own a full project and work directly with engineering leads on delivery.
- You'll be expected to own a piece of our development process, likely handling inbound bug reports, and triage them into actionable steps for engineers and engineering leads to look into.
- You'll begin to work more autonomously, but continue to interface heavily with engineering leadership.
- By the end of this month, you will be fully aligned with business goals and understand how our product organization delivers against them.
- Month 3
- You'll be expected to operate more autonomously, but continue to have regular check-ins with leadership.
- By the end of this month, you will understand the components of our micro-service system that relate to your projects, and how to provide product input to technical system designs

- What's the interview process like? First, you'll interact with our recruiters as an initial screening. Then, we'll have a quick intro call with our Lead Product Manager, John Elam.
