Job Summary:
The Software Architect assumes a pivotal role in guiding multiple software development projects, enforcing secure and contemporary development practices. As a visionary leader, this individual provides technical expertise to a team of software engineers, driving the evolution of software architecture standards. In addition to project oversight, the Software Architect is responsible for ensuring the day-to-day support of PRCA applications and products, bridging the gap between strategic planning and hands-on development.
Essential Duties:
· Plan, design, and develop Web and Desktop applications, using Microsoft .NET technologies, in support of assigned projects and strategic initiatives.
· Develop and communicate architectural and design principles to ensure coherence and consistency of software solutions.
· Stay aware of emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their applicability to current and future projects.
· Collaborate with developers, programmers, and designers in conceptualizing and development of new software programs and applications.
· Work with development team to integrate continuous integration, continuous deployment, and automated testing into the development process.
· Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of software architectures, design decisions and technical specifications
· Analyze and assess existing business systems and procedures. Make recommendations for improvements and/or simplifications.
· Manage the development and deployment of new applications, systems software, and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout the enterprise.
· Ensure that any new software integration into company systems meets functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specifications.
· Collaborate with stakeholders, business analysts, and quality assurance in the testing of new software programs and applications.
· Provide technical leadership to team members and programmers working on development projects.
· Cultivate, disseminate, and enforce functional policies, procedures, quality assurance and secure coding best practices.
· Develop, test, and tune SQL queries to ensure data access and updates are correct, efficient, and scalable.
· Design, run and monitor software performance tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.
· Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
· Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 10+ years of software development experience is desired. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
· Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products as required.
· Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
· Experience with data management within the context of software development.
· 10 years of experience in .NET development
· Experience with MS SQL Server
· Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS or Google Cloud Platform
· Proficiency in designing and managing APIs, including RESTful API design principles
· Proficiency in designing data service layers utilizing Microsoft Entity Frameworks or similar framework
· Experience in Web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Vue).
· Experience with Microsoft IIS/Windows, or equivalent server platforms.
· Full project management and development life cycle experience.
· Experience with Git and Microsoft DevOps
· Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
· Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
· Skilled at working within a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
· Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
· Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
Work Environment:
Working conditions: Works in an office environment with occasional travel to special events and conventions out of state. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets.
Physical Demands:
Physical Demands: This is largely a sedentary role; however, the ability to lift up to 40 pounds is required. This would require the ability to lift computers and other IT equipment, as necessary. Regularly required to sit, talk, hear, walk, and stand. Vision abilities include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
