What you will do:
As the Sr. Industrial Automation Controls Engineer, you will support and identify upgrades and deficiencies for all existing automation that resides on the production floor. Additionally, you will identify, research, and analyze new automation opportunities that will enhance and advance the capabilities of the company. Key responsibilities include:
- Upholds Andis Core Values in all work-related activities.
- Provide hands on support of manufacturing and processing equipment design including mechanical, electrical and control systems.
- Provides control software, hardware, programming, and troubleshooting support.
- Provides technical support for other manufacturing and maintenance departments as directed by the engineering manager.
- Design and implement changes to automated equipment to improve overall operational effectiveness.
- Considers safety in design, work practices, and plant operations.
- Develops project timelines to achieve targeted business goals.
- Mentor and support the development of the technicians to troubleshoot and maintenance the production equipment.
- Support problem solving teams to find root cause.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical for designing electrical controls.
- Knowledge of UL and NFPA codes and standards.
*This position could progress to a supervisor-level role*

Minimum educational qualifications, desired experience and other requirements include:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical Computer/Control Engineering or related is desired with a minimum of 10 years progressive experience. Will also consider highly skilled technician with extensive training and experience in PLC automation controls with a strong electrical aptitude. Electrical Design & Automation Engineering experience is preferred along with a good understanding of mechanical and electrical components such as valves, pumps, relays, controller, PLC, motors, starters, pilot valves, piping, hose, and fittings.
- A motivated self-starter with a “hands on approach” and the ability to work with others in a team environment.
- Direct experience with Allen-Bradley Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) programming, FactoryTalk SE/ME (HMI), Servo drives, and supporting software is required, as well as CAD/electrical design experience.
- Solid understanding of computers, networking and communication protocols used with industrial controllers, along with the ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and perform complex system tests.
- Motion Control, Vision, Industrial Networking is preferred, as well as experience with Fanuc robots, Kepware software and Lean Manufacturing.
