Job Summary
The Software Systems Engineer III is part of a team dedicated to advancing Nanotech’s machine technology. This position is principally responsible for the system level PLC software and support ultra-precision machine systems for the electro-optics manufacturing industry. The Software Systems of Engineer III will have the ability to define and resolve engineering problems under limited supervision of more experienced personnel.Typical projects are a combination of new development, maintenance, and revision of existing applications.
Core Responsibilities
- Broadly applies principles, theories, concepts, and techniques as related to system level PLC software.
- Solves system software problems using accepted engineering practices under limited supervision of more experienced personnel.
- Leads small projects or phases/portions of larger projects.
- Supports the development of large, complex software intensive machining systems with focus on real-world use and exceptional performance.
- Familiar with complete machining systems pertaining to the integration of software and hardware components.
- Creation and maintenance of applications software with revision control.
- Solid understanding of PLC logic control as it is related to machine tool interfaces and motion control systems.
- Fluent with CNC g-code programming language and paramacro programming.
- Reads machine tool schematics.
- Understands servo systems and feedback devices and optimization of these devices.
- Conceptualizes and engineers new, unique electrical systems that meet customer requirements.
- Handles multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, while effectively managing priorities and communicating progress.
- Actively participates in product design reviews and work directly with the engineering staff to develop cost effective solutions.
- Interfaces with engineers and technicians of other business units to help coordinate overall technical activities wherever appropriate and desirable.
- Ensures that all relevant data is collected, reviewed, and filed for all projects in accordance with standard procedures.
- Prepares and presents detailed technical reports to management and staff.
- Contributes to written instruction and operation manuals for Nanotech’s products.
- Performs in-house technical support.
- Helps to achieve the completion of all projects within budget and on schedule.
- Travels up to 10% of the time.
- Ensures safe work practices are followed and complies with safety regulations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned in accordance with overall job responsibilities.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or related field, from an accredited university and 10+ years of work experience, or a master’s degree in computer science plus 5+ years of work experience.
- Demonstrated versatility and high competency levels in creativity and technical comprehension.
- Familiarity with Delta Tau motion control products.
- General understanding of C programming language.
- Computer proficiency in MS Office Suite.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
