The NATRC Communication Specialist will work with NATRC leadership and team members to provide developmental communication support as well as some administrative support for Operations Manager in a unit with moderately complex communications requirements. This position requires subject matter expertise and in-depth understanding of audience and visual communication strategies/methods. The communications program usually includes written, visual, digital, and electronic communications. Scope includes creation of presentation materials, fliers, marketing materials, education materials, videos and infographics and graphics for publications. Works with management to develop and execute communication and market branding strategy. Designs and implements information campaigns, draft correspondence, set up interviews/meetings and other duties as assigned.
The National Alliance of Trauma Recovery Centers (NATRC) was formed in 2019 with TRCs across the country who are implementing the UCSF Trauma Recovery Center(TRC) model of care developed in 2001. The UCSF TRC model is designed to help victims of violent crime overcome barriers to accessing mental health treatment, case management and care coordination, healthcare, and legal resources in the acute aftermath of violence. The NATRC is a national alliance of 52 TRCs across the United States with a Steering Committee of member agencies. The NATRC provides technical assistance and training, facilitates a collaborative learning community, and serves as a catalyst to advocate for just and equitable healing services for all.
The NATRC Communications Specialist oversees a comprehensive communications program for the National Alliance for Trauma Recovery Centers, which includes written, visual, digital and electronic communications. The role will partner with NATRC leadership, staff, steering committee and alliance members, partners and other key stakeholders to develop and execute organizational communication and market branding strategy in alignment with overarching brand and communication strategies of UCSF and the NATRC. Where appropriate, the NATRC Communications Specialist is responsible for leading, developing and managing all aspects of internal/external communications, including website content, newsletters, annual reports, social media presence, fundraising and promotional materials.
The position requires extensive experience in all aspects of communications, including strong writing and editing skills, experience managing social media platforms. The individual must have a high degree of organization, initiative, ability to interact with many diverse people and function under the stress of competing priorities. The Communications Specialist serves in an autonomous capacity and works on behalf of the NATRC, steering committee and alliance members, partners, and crime survivors. The individual in this position must demonstrate good judgement and critical thinking in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions and requires a high level of professionalism and diplomacy.
