As a Software Engineer 1 you will tackle simple business needs by delivering quality code with mentorship and supervision.
- Work with team to accurately develop and test software systems, according to design.
- Participate in design reviews.
- Develop code, using the required programming languages and tools while following team standards.
- Collaborate and participate in code reviews.
- Support automated code builds and deployments.
- Observe root cause analysis activities for production issues.
- Adapt to inclusive team culture and Symetra Core Values.
- Assist with implementation of a new solution, feature, capability, or practice.

Salary Range: $41.14 - $68.54/hr plus eligibility for annual bonus program.
Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field, OR relevant accredited technical certification, OR equivalent work experience.
Developing skills in one technology domain:
- Cloud (serverless, containers, infrastructure as code, cloud computing services)
- Client-server (.Net, Java)
- Web (ASP.Net, Python, JavaScript, responsive design)
- Database (SQL, MySQL, DB2, DocumentDB)
- Mainframe (COBOL, JCL, CICS)
Basic analytical and problem-solving skills.
Able to articulate and share information within the team.
Learning Agile software delivery.
