Join a fantastic product team passionate about enabling customer journeys with frictionless, defect-free credit card capabilities.
The Senior Manager Product Owner is a highly visible leader driving priority initiatives within the Portfolio Value Stream in Card Posting & Billing (CPB.) This position will work across the organization to evolve the operating model for Customer & Credit Management and Delinquency domains with a focus on simplification and automation.
In this role, you will enable and empower product owners, while developing and owning a holistic modernization roadmap. You will lead the transition to a domain-driven architecture and modular system design that enables smaller product teams and aligns functionality to end-to-end customer journeys.
Additionally, this role will oversee the centralized operational data platform (NCS), mature the data change process, and improve platform insights. Strong technical understanding, communication and collaboration across stakeholders will be necessary for success.
What You’ll Do

Lead the development of the product family roadmap in partnership with the Business Director and Product Owner(s), ensuring alignment and dependencies are managed across the product teams.

Provide mentoring, fills in the business and/or technical knowledge gaps, etc.

Negotiate and influence others across shared services and product teams across product families.
How You’ll Do It

Develops product family vision and roadmap – ensures alignment with Business Director and POs in same product family. Partners with Business Director and POs developing, maintaining, and presenting the vision and overarching product roadmap to support business unit goals.

Understands consumer and market needs and industry/competitive trends to identify market opportunities to drive values. Establishes Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) for value creation and efficiency for the product family and support POs in translating OKRs to the product teams. Establishes product Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to achieve, communicate priorities, decide which actions to take, prioritize features, and help build out long term strategies. Defines product family MVPs, prioritizing and accepting priorities in partnership with POs and architects.

Defines functional and non-functional product requirements; ensuring completeness, integral and consistent; source of requirements for product family. When applicable, manage product family requirements (i.e., functional and non-functional requirements) and objectives with external partners (e.g., Apple, WIPRO, etc.) Ensures product features and processes align with applicable Discover compliance and risk management standards.

Manages team of direct reports, responsible for people development and performance management, hiring and building team, coaching and mentoring

Creates prototypes (e.g., MVPs, POC, etc.) based on customer feedback to test, learn, and validate ideas before committing to larger scale development. Synchronizes and aligns with Product Family POs on prioritization and delivery to maximize Product Family Value.

Builds a culture of accountability and ownership by empowering the product family and setting clear expectations. Coaches product teams to eliminate risks and wastes, and to foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and learning.
Qualifications You’ll Need
The Basics

Bachelor’s Degree in Business

8+ years’ experience with Product, Business, Technical, or related

In lieu of a degree, 10+ years’ experience with Product, Business, Technical, or related
Bonus Points If You Have

Master’s Degree in Business Administration

2+ years’ People Management experience

Experience with agile and scrum delivery

Experience with data lineage and data stewardship

Experience using agile management tools such as Jira

Experience using process management tools such as IBM Blueworks Live
-
Exposure to COBOL (UNIX/Mainframe) and Java

Compensation:
The base pay for this position generally ranges between $140,000.00 to $196,400.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
