Community Coalition has also registered and mobilized thousands of voters in South LA, participated in the process to create a federal Promise Zone for South Los Angeles and creates leadership opportunities for young people with the South-Central Youth Empowered through Action program and Freedom School, among other projects.

SUMMARY STATEMENT: This position is accountable for providing administrative and project management support to Community Coalition’s President and CEO. This individual is key to the high quality, effective and efficient functioning of executives and the Board.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned):
- Provide administrative, organizational and scheduling structure and support for the President and CEO
- Maintain appointment schedules and calendars, provide reminders as appropriate, and coordinate travel arrangements.
- Coordinate and organize meetings for executive team members, including notification to prospective attendees, set-up/logistics, pre and post meeting correspondence, meeting minutes and records, and any required follow up. Core meetings include executive meetings, Board meetings and retreats, gala dinner, town halls, community events, alliances/coalitions, etc.
- Draft correspondence for the President and CEO
- Coordinate with the President and CEO ensure timely and effective followup on key action items with external partners and stakeholders (i.e. community members, elected officials, funders)
- Receive and screen communications including telephone calls, mail and e-mail messages, and provide assistance using independent judgment to determine those requiring priority attention as appropriate
- Ensure the President and CEO is prepared and timely for meetings and commitments , which will be facilitated by effective calendar management (i.e. ensuring there is adequate travel time), proactively sharing research and briefs, providing notice around next meetings etc.
- Staff President and CEO as requested at external meetings by providing transportation, taking notes and tracking commitments for follow-through.
- Initiate and respond to written and verbal correspondence, including composition, editing and distribution on behalf of the President and CEO
- Create and maintain a system for organizing and storing both electronic and hardcopy information and records, and implement record retention policies and procedures.
- Arrange for meals and myriad errands as requested.
- Perform and support special projects/programming and other duties as assigned. This may include supporting a campaign effort, attending meetings on behalf of the organization and building relationships with external stakeholders.
- Support organizing and community outreach activities as assigned.
- Complete and reconcile expense reports.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS and SKILLS
- 3-years in an administrative role directly supporting an executive in a fast pace environment
- Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email applications.
- Knowledge of modern methods of office administration.
- Skill in independently prioritizing, planning, coordinating, organizing, leading and monitoring multiple organizational projects of a complex nature simultaneously and quickly adapting to changes in time frames.
- Skill in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Highly effective organizational and time management skills.
- Skill in researching and analyzing issues and offering creative solutions.
- Exemplary customer service skills including the ability to identify needs, provide prompt response, and exercise patience, respect and professionalism in all interactions.

- Familiarity with issues and the political landscape impacting the South Los Angeles community
- Very well organized, detail-oriented, flexible, able to work in a fast-paced environment
