The Defense Group at Leidos currently has an opening for Unmanned Systems Aircraft Technician (UAST), Level III, Fleet Manager. In this role, the UAST maintains aircraft, ground stations, and ground support equipment in accordance with OEM specifications and DCMA INST 8210.1C regulations. The diversity of working conditions range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject the individual to severe changes in temperature, wind, rain, etc. The UAST may be required to work in areas where high noise hazards, exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and electrical shock hazards exist. The UAST Fleet Manager will report directly to the UAS Program Manager and Flight Operations Manager.
THE CHALLENGE (primary responsibilities)
Supervise A&P Mechanics
Participate in teleconferences as required
Perform performance evaluations on A&P Mechanics
Update maintenance tracking software/databases
Tracking and performing scheduled and unscheduled aircraft troubleshooting, maintenance and inspections
Performing operational inspections and checklist from preflight trough postflight.
Create aircraft logbook entries and report discrepancies to program leadership
Perform logistical tracking
Submit daily, weekly, or monthly reports as required
Perform corrosion control
Perform shipping, receiving, and issuing of aircraft materiel
Perform structural repairs and component in-house repair/back shop programs
Wash, clean, and service aircraft, fuel, oil, electrical, and hydraulic systems
Reciprocating engine, propeller, airframe, and flight control/landing gear or engine rigging
Track and perform scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance, repair, and inspections on all Unmanned Systems
WHAT SETS YOU APART (basic qualifications)
High School Diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of relevant experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
150 hours experience as a mechanic or crew chief in a UAS or traditional ISR airframe
Must possess or be able to obtain a current FAA Class III Medical Certificate
Must have a current FAA A&P certificate
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must possess a current passport
Must possess a valid state driver’s license
Must read, write, speak and understand English
Must possess an active DOD security clearance at the SECRET level, or higher
Must have a basic understanding of integrated avionics
Must have working knowledge of aircraft safety directive compliance (SL, SB, AD)
Experience using common or special tools and test equipment required to support operations
Must have in-depth knowledge of aircraft/vehicle movement and safety/hazards during flightline operations
Must have an in-depth knowledge of using aircraft technical publications with the ability to read and interpret basic schematic diagrams, drawings, and charts
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Programs, including Word and Excel, as well as maintenance database and tracking software
Ability to successfully meet all contractual / program training and DoD medical requirements for OCONUS travel, COVID testing requirements, attending and successfully completing CONUS Replacement Courses (CRC) within 90 days of hire.

Prior Lead mechanic or flight mechanic experience
Experience with TigerShark UAS, or similar platform
Willingness to upgrade and assume additional aviation administration responsibility

Pay Range:
Pay Range $53,300.00 - $82,000.00 - $110,700.00
