Sunstone Engineering is a rapidly growing original equipment manufacturer of precision micro-welding equipment. We are a fast-paced engineering organization with a focus on new products using technologies such as embedded control systems, LCD and touch screen interfaces, USB and Ethernet communication, and high power control circuitry. The design and manufacturing of all our equipment is in-house, so this position provides full exposure to, and involvement in, the technologies and processes of research and development of micro-welding products.

At Sunstone, we provide jewelers, manufactures and dreamers the equipment they need to make the world a better place. Our products include Laser, Pulse Arc, Capacitive Discharge, AC, and Hot Bar Reflow welding systems. These products are used by prestigious organizations like Apple, NASA, MIT, GE, HP, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and many others.

Job Requirements:

Bachelors of Science in Computer Engineering or Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering Focus in firmware and 1-2 year(s) experience
Experience with Embedded C
Experience with Micro-controllers (Specifically PIC and PSOC chips)
Ability to work both as a member of a team and independently based on the project requirements
Ability to implement simple and well-designed solutions
Ability to mentor others and be mentored by others
A strong work ethic and committed to seeing tasks through to completion

Preferred Skills (but not required):

Experience with RTOS (we use FreeRTOS)
Read and understand circuit schematics and PCB layouts
Experience with the Atlassian Suite (JIRA, Confluence, SourceTree), as well as Git (Bitbucket) or other source control

What you will be doing:

Planning and implementing new firmware
Tracking down bugs in both firmware and hardware
Setting your own direction and deciding task priorities

Salary: $85,000 - $100,000 / year
