THE ROLE

Your role is to help Stand for Children’s nascent Center for Early Literacy Success to realize its massive potential for impact by maximizing the leverage of CELS’ world-renowned Executive Director Dr. Nell Duke and assuring Stand’s multi-faceted capabilities are efficiently deployed to support CELS’ success.

THE ORGANIZATION

Stand for Children is a unique catalyst for education equity and racial justice to create a brighter future for us all. The Center for Early Literacy Success, a recently launched Stand for Children program, works to accelerate early learning by children in metropolitan areas via its pathbreaking Great First Eight Curriculum and initiatives focused on increasing early literacy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Provide intensive daily support to the Executive Director (ED) with a focus on completing a wide range of tasks that allow the ED to leverage her time to the highest impact projects. Examples include:

o Scheduling, with a goal of maximizing the ED’s time on high leverage tasks.

o Drafting emails and other documents based on her guidance, including MOUs for district/CMO partners, updates for the Stand Board, contractor and staff job descriptions and 90-day goals, project overviews and workplans.

o Securing permissions to use content in the GF8 curriculum.

o Ordering materials for classrooms, for team members, and for ED (e.g., children's books to be reviewed) and placing printing orders for classrooms.

o Attending and handling follow-up from internal and external meetings and sometimes attending meetings in her stead and reporting back.

o Periodically reviewing the Great First Eight website and serving as the liaison with the Stand Tech Team with respect to site improvements.

o Maintaining CELS Intranet on SharePoint.

o Responding to Great First Eight inquiries via the website.

o Creating or formatting/reformatting presentations for internal and external presentations.

o Conducting a range of quick research (e.g., district demography, state or district curriculum adoption processes, curriculum competitors, etc.).

o Handling all travel arrangements and logistics for the ED’s travel and for CELS or Great First Eight in-person team meetings.

o Completing and reviewing supervisee and contractor timesheets and expense reports.

o Handling ED requests to respond to selected emails and supporting ED’s social media accounts and website.

· Create and ensure the proper use and continuous improvement of systems to track the entire Great First Eight curriculum partnership cycle, from inquiries and outreach to implementation support, including management and tracking of all contracts.

· Oversee CELS’ annual planning and budget development and coordination with relevant national Stand teams regarding CELS’ needs.

· Lead other key projects and initiatives as identified with the Executive Director and Stand senior leadership to increase operational effectiveness and in alignment with annual organizational and program goals.

· Serve as liaison to internal teams including Communications and Marketing, Technology, People & Culture, Finance, and others as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Passionate commitment to Stand for Children’s mission.

· 8 years of relevant experience.

· A demonstrated commitment to excellence, with a high record of achievement and superior organizational skills.

· Outstanding attention to detail, proactivity, and follow through and ability to prioritize effectively and efficiently complete a high volume and wide range of tasks.

· Willingness and ability to become an expert in the Great First Eight curriculum and other CELS programs who can write and speak effectively about any aspect of GF8 and CELS work to any audience.

· Exceptional verbal and written communication skills: ability to communicate directly, clearly, and respectfully with staff and external stakeholders.

· Demonstrated relationship-building skills and commitment to building and maintaining strong relationships across the organization.

· Demonstrated ability to effectively lead high performance, matrixed teams, and engage a variety of stakeholders to achieve established goals.

· Strong analytical, problem-solving and change management skills to implement strategic solutions.

· Demonstrated experience designing processes to meet organizational goals and enhance impact.

· Demonstrated experience in data- and stakeholder-driven strategic planning, including experience developing and operationalizing processes to drive continuous improvement and course correct as needed.

· Demonstrated ability to leverage tools and systems including Microsoft Office and Outlook, Google Drive, Zoom, Salesforce, WordPress, EveryAction, Asana, etc.
